Our Mission is to develop and train leaders in the Black communities from youth to adults through education, seminars, workshops, work experience, any other activities that enhance their development and increase exposure to resources that are vital to their mental, physical, and fiscal health. Through community leadership and career connection, we focused on youth and young adults, providing a holistic approach by connecting them to mentoring and enrichment programs, career and entrepreneurship opportunities, leadership within in their community, connecting parents to programs, and workforce Development. 

Program Goal 

The overarching goal of the program is to build neighborhood resilience in Westside community areas. Working with Principals/Counselors, Chicago Housing Authority, Chicago Police, Department / Community – Explorers Program, Alternative Schools, Community Organizations/Churches, we use a comprehensive model that increases protective factors through constructive social and academic engagement for youth. The scope of programs and services are established around evidence-based practices approaches to help youth reach self-sufficiency:  Other highlighted area's of focus include violence prevention and intervention services, enrichment programs, diversionary services, and workforce development.  

Bright Leadership Institute focuses on  African American youth ages 10-24. These youth may be categorized as at-risk, juvenile delinquents, gang involved, or youth who exhibit a troubled behavior or indicate delinquent tendencies such as law-breaking, poor school attendance, low academic achievement, deviant behavior, substance use and disorder, propensity for violence, emotional and psychological trauma, and serious family related problems including neglect and abuse.  Moreover, these youths live in neighborhoods that are disenfranchised, impoverished, and deprived of fundamental resources.
